Seaside Garden Club (SGC)
Board Meeting Minutes: 8/8/22
Attendees: Evonne Blanchard, Peg Finn, Eileen Morsett, Elaine Persons, Kathy Ryan, Dot Sieradzki, Deb Willwerth
Apologies: Catherine Heanue, Noeline Kohr
Agenda:
- Kathy Ryan has been approached by the Manchester Garden Club to co-host the October meeting; however, after some discussion it was clear that it would not work out for this particular time frame. The members agreed to seek out ways to work with other garden clubs.
- Workshop attendance: it has been noted that after December, the number of people attending workshops drops—why? Suggested reasons: Advertising: are we using the right venues/methods of reaching people? It was also decided to reach out to former members to encourage them to rejoin and reach out to nonactive members and encourage them to attend programs.

September 13: Supporting Pollinator Health at Home. Guest speaker: Rosemary Malfi, Ph.D., Pollinator Network Coordinator, Northeast Organic Farming Association.
October 11: An Evening of Botanical Sketching. Guest speaker: Jess Yurwitz, Slow River Art Studio
November 8: Future of Food Sustainability. Guest speaker: Chris Sellew, Little Leaf Farms

Seaside Garden Club – Meeting Notes -2-
May 9: AUCTION!
June 13: Guided Conservation Area Walk.
- Advertising programs: It was definitely decided that we need to get the word out about our programs! Ideas included notifications in area public libraries, newspapers, “joining forces” with other area garden clubs, as they are probably facing a similar situation. Other suggestions: Facebook, flyers.
- Dues: will remain the same for next year: $30.
- Cultural Council Grant: decisions are made in December; notifications in January
- Changes in BoD for Club:
- President: Elaine has stated that this will be her last year as president. She suggested Jessica LaMothe and Ann Heslop as co-presidents.
- Programming: this is Kathy Ryan’s last year. Evonne Blanchard and Catherine Heanue will be co-coordinators of this position
- Treasurer: Peg Finn is stepping down. Elaine Persons will take over.
- Eileen will join Hospitality.
Next Meeting Date: September 13th.
Respectfully submitted,
Deb Willwerth, Recording Secretary
